The displayed work is rather diverse, from poster projects, books, video to interventions, the portfolio display of the wdka shows a variety of different kinds of work.
The website of the wdka is very modern. It is responsive, and works with pop-up menus. The overall feel of the website is very playful and shows character.
The BU website has some kind of a modern feel, but to a very limited extent. The interactive elements, like the slideshow are very basic and now-a-days to be expected.
Generally the website is rather standard, and has nothing of the playfulness which the wdka scores with.
The showcased work of the graphic design department, but also of all the other departments is a video embedded, showing a slideshow of the work.
In case of the graphic design department, the slideshow shows stills of a poster assignment
The choice of this way of presenting (slideshow rather than gallery) is rather forced.
The impression one gets of the school making use of digital elements like the slideshow is rather amateuristic. Why would one show a slideshow of stills instead of a simple image gallery?

Webside looks very neutral and sober.
No interactive menu, no pop-ups over overlays.
The main goal is to provide information, any kind
of decorative element is dismissed
Every department has a web side for its own. The graphic design department showcases student work from the first moment. Showing print assignments as background images

information about the studies can be view online as e-pub and pdf
Additionally, what was very surprising. There is a link provided to an online form where one can order a printed version at home

"All assignments are printed on paper"
"Work in process printed, finals presented digital"
"We are definitely print focused but moving towards digital"

"WDKA is all in digital when it comes to communication and presenting. But the school very much values the qualities of paper"
"There is a special course focusing on digital media. Nevertheless, the teachers encourage to make use of analogue workshops"
"My fellow students mostly write on the laptop with some exceptions."
"I enjoy the digital focus of the wdka a lot. It comes naturally, is not forced and makes me feel comfortable even thought I am not sued to it."

Boston Art academy is the first to have launched a website in 1996. Unfortunately there is no real screen-shot of how the website looks, but having a look at the content without styling, it must be very basic.
A year later, website looks still the same
In 1997 the website looks already very much more styled than before. The background picture remains of papyrus. The design makes use of decorative elements which can be played with in order to make a website more visually appealing than just a list online.
So far there have not been any interactive elements used.
WDKA
The first visual sign of the wdka website was in 2005. This means that this edition of website must be one of the first ones in the history of the school. It is surprising to see that already in this very early version the look of the website is very modern. The designers play with 3d elements and
First sources of the wdka can been found from 2003. Unfortunately, there can not be an image displayed.

First signs of the website of the zhdk is in 2003
2004
2008
The zhdk shows no sign of a proper website till 2007. But in year 2007 they already make use of a hover-over option and have moving text giving information about the school (contact info, etc.)

Behance
On behance, the work of the students from the ZHDK are very diverse. They show as much interactive, digital work as analogue.
Behance
The work of Wdka Students on Behance are rather print focused. Surprisingly, the students like to make use of digital tools (illustrator, etc.) to design e.g. posters which are then printed out.
Behance
Boston University Students present themselves on the portfolio platform almost exclusively with printed projects.
In 2008 the look of the website changed. The general impression is more smooth and less "constructed". Whereas the previous page looks like different elements come together, the new website is one smooth design.
2007
2013
2013 is the year when the wdka changed the design of their website. The current page makes use of interactive elements, implying the feeling that the wdka is a modern school updated to the latest standards of digital progress.
2009
In 2009 the website updated drastically. From a very standard site, supplying only the information but no sign of "internet identity", the website changed in 2009 into a very modern looking site. "Slick" and neutral, reminding of flat design.
In 2005 the website of the boston university, changed drastically. Still looking rather standard, the website changed from "discovering the decorative elements of the internet" to a point of view where a website at first position is to communicate
2006
In 2006, more changes. Even more reduced, and clearer structured.
2010
The BU website, changed drastically in 2010. Slideshows, overlays etc. The website looks very contemporary and updated. Since 2010 the website has not been changed essentially.
